The CBI Special Court here on Thursday extended the judicial remand of the mining scam accused trio Gali Janardhana Reddy, BV Srinivas Reddy and VD Rajagopal till 12 January.

Judge Rama Maruthi Sharma of the designated court extended the bail following an interaction with the accused through video linkage from Chanchalhuda Central Prison.

Gali Janardhana Reddy also filed an interim bail petition seeking permission to visit Bellary with Jail escort for two days to participate in his mother's death anniversary slated for 31 December. He pleaded that he has been regularly participating in his mother's death anniversary since 2000 and had been involved in religious and charity programmes organised on the occasion. The court posted the matter for hearing on Friday to allow the CBI file its counter.

The issue of Gali’s fourth bail petition will also come before the court on Friday. The Court on Wednesday withheld its verdict on the bail applications of the Reddys after their counsels sought reopening the hearing to enable them to present additional submission supporting the bail petition.

This is the second time that Gali tried to visit Karnataka while still under Judicial custody.
