Last Updated 29 December 2011, 12:47 IST

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) at Hootagalli Industrial Area has urged the Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) for water supply. The proposal now before the council triggered heated discussion, but all in the favour of the factory.

Executive engineer of VVWW Subramanya explained that the factory has requested for three lakh litres of water per day to meet the demands of 3,600 employees. It could be considered if a separate line to the central storage reservoir (CSR) at Vijayanagar is drawn.

Besides, separate pump house should be constructed. Earlier, executive engineer Subbegowda of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) under which Jamshedpur Utilities and Supplies Company (JUSCO) Ltd, has been awarded the job of operation and maintenance of water claimed innocence about the proposal.

He passed the buck at MCC, when his opinion was sought. Despite demand from corporators to consider the factory’s request, the mayor decided to arrive at a conclusion after discussing it with officials.
