Of borewells, pumps, motors... and tankers

P N Srinivasachari said that although supply of water through tankers during emergency was inevitable, using such a method all over the district the year through was not feasible.

“The best solution is to repair old as well as provide new borewells and pipelines. Officers should consider the option seriously.”

There are as many as 45 borewells within Kolar City Municipal Council limits, but up to 22 of them have no motors or pumps, said Additional Commissioner R S Peddappaiah. “The water problem can be reduced by half if the work is completed,” he added.

In reaction, Srinivasachari instructed the Deputy Commissioner to grant the funds required for the connections.

Bangarpet Town Municipal Council officer complained that the taluk needed 25 borewells. “Also, as there has been no proper payment, tankers are not providing water, worsening the situation.”
