National 'Natyotsava' from Jan 21

Sri Idagunji Mahaganapathy Yakshagana Mandali, Keremane, will organise five-day ‘Keremane Shambhu Hegde National Natyotsava’ from January 21 to 25 at Gunavanthe, in Honnavar.

Addressing a press meet here, Mandali Director Keremane Shivanand Hegde said that Keremane Shivaram Hegde award will be conferred on litterateur Dr Ananthamurthy. A DVD on ‘Sathya Harishchandra’ Yakshagana in which Keremane Shambhu Hegde had played a role will also be released on the occasion. The website of Idagunji Mela will be launched.

The Natyotsava will be inaugurated by Minister Govinda Karajola. Minister for Primary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri will preside.

On January 21, Thandava Mahila Sangha, Sagar, will perform ‘Dollu kunitha,’  Samundar Mangniyar and team will perform ‘Mangniyar music,’ ‘Kathak’ by Anuraga Varma Rajasthan, ‘Saraikela’ by Shashidhar Achary, ‘Chav’ dance by Mayurbanj will be held.
There will be workshop on ‘Bhagavathike adhyayana mathu samshodhane’ on all the four days from January 22.  The workshop will be inaugurated by Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy Chairman M L Samaga.

In the Natyotsava felicitation, K P Hasyagara Karki and Ambathanaya Mudradi will be felicitated. On January 23, Dr N Simanthoor Narayana Shetty and Moodambailu Gopalakrishna Shastri will be felicitated. 

Hamsa Moily will perform ‘Radhakrishna’ dance ballet, Bharathnatyam by Prasanna Kasthuri and ‘Yakshagana bombeyata’ by Sri Gopalakrishna Yakshagana Bombeyata Sangha will be held.

On January 24, Mantapa Prabhakar Upadhyaya will stage mono act Yakshagana, yakshagana on the theme ‘Baumasura kalaga’ by Shrimatha Mahila Yakshakala Trust, Shimoga, will also be held.  In the valedictory of Natyotsava, Kannada Sahithya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor will preside while seer of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Shimoga, will attend.

Hangarakatte Yakshagana Kendra, Kundapura, Sankalpa Seva Kendra, Yallapuram Seetharam Achari, Theerthahalli will be felicitated on the occasion. There will be Hindustani classical music by Dhananjay Hegde, Mumbai, Anoor Ananthakrishna and team will perform jugalbandhi ‘Layalavanya’ of carnatic music, folk music and western music.
