Three arrested for threatening woman

The Mico Layout police arrested three persons on charges of issuing life threats to a homemaker on Saturday night.

The suspects are Gopi (27), a resident of Maruthinagar, Martin (28) of S G Palya and John Dinakar (28) of A K Colony.

According to the police, Nagaraj, 20, a resident of Bakshi Garden in Cottonpet area, was a relative of the prime suspect Gopi. Nagaraj, who was returning home in an inebriated condition on the night of December 31, picked up a quarrel with a boy, Chandru and allegedly hit him on the head. Chandru informed his brother Nalla, 20, a resident of Bovi Colony. Nalla met and attacked Nagaraj with a lethal weapon.

Nagaraj was taken to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Victoria Hospital. Two days later, Nagaraj fled from the hospital claiming he had recovered.
However, Nagaraj died on Saturday.

Gopi and his associates were furious after hearing about Nagaraj’s death. They barged into the house of Lakshmi, a relative of Nalla, and demanded to know his whereabouts. They damaged a television set and other articles. The police rushed to the spot and arrested them. The police took Nalla into custody on Sunday.

Attempt to murder

The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police arrested two brothers for allegedly attempting to murder a youth on Saturday night. The suspects are Amith and Sumith, both aged around 35 years. They are into textile business in Chikpet.

Police said the two brothers, who came out of a bar at BEML Layout after consuming liquor, saw Pradeep alias Poovaiah, 28, who stays at Krishna Apartment, and picked up a quarrel with him over a petty issue.

They took out a knife and stabbed him thrice. After being alerted by the public, the police rushed to the spot and shifted him to a nearby hospital and arrested the duo. Poovaiah is stated to be out of danger.
