The Integrated Action Plan (IAP), created by the Centre to spur developmental activities in Naxal affected and backward districts, has been drawing a good response, the Home Ministry has said.

Under the plan, 62327 projects worth Rs 3230.02 crore have been completed so far, prompting Chief Ministers to ask the Centre to extend the plan to their respective states.

Developmental activities such as construction of School Buildings/School Furniture, Anganwadi Centres, Drinking Water facilities, Rural roads, Panchyat Bhawan,Community Halls, Godowns, Public Distribution Shops , livelihood activities, skill trainings, minor irrigation works and  electric lighting are being carried out under IAP. The Plan, which is directly  monitored by the Planning Commission, has also focused on building  health centres, Ashram Schools,  toilets, construction of multi-purpose chabutra , passenger waiting hall, special coaching classes for students and  development of play grounds.

With a view to make it transparent, state governments are directed to deposit the funds directly to the account opened for IAP by the District Collector or Magistrate within fifteen days of receiving the funds to the state government’s consolidate funds. The failure would mean state government has to pay penal interest at RBI rates.

The IAP was formulated as a 100 per cent financial assistance from the centre for the development of 60 tribal and backward districts under which funds were directly placed at the disposal.
