People for Raaga will present a Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Pt D Kumar Das on August 30, 10 am at DVG Hall, Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, Bull Temple Road (Opp BMS Engg College), N R Colony. He will be accompanied on tabla by Pt M Nagesh and on harmonium by Sidhartha.

Many strains

MES Kalavedi will present Vidyasagara Prof MPL Sastry Music Festival from September 4 to September 7. All the participating artistes are former students of MES institutions. Vocals will be presented by Rudrapatnam S Ramakantha (September 4), Amrutha Venkatesh (September 5) T V Ramaprasad (September 6) and Saitejas Chandrashekar (September 7). The venue is Conference Hall, MES College, Vidyasagara Prof MPL Sastry Road, 15th Cross, Malleswaram.   


The World Music Center will organise a workshop on the compositions of the legendary Carnatic composer and musician G N Balasubramaniam by Padmabhushan Trichur V Ramachandran and Charumathi Ramachandran on August 29, 4 pm to 6.30 pm, at the World Music Center, East Park Road, Malleswaram. Aha!’s theatre festival for children will present a Yakshagana performance called Veera Vrushasena by children of Saligrama Makkala Mela on August 29, 7.30 pm and Kattaikkuttu - Veriyattam on September 5, 7.30 pm at the Ranga Shankara. The play is for children above six.

Fun with Vir

Weirdass Productions will present a comedy show by Vir Das on August 29, 7 pm at the Opus. The basic aim of Weirdass Ham-ateur Nights is to give an ideal platform for up-and-coming talents in the field of comedy right from stand-up to sketch comedy, from musical to slapstick.

The Big Laugh’

Percept D'Mark will present The Big Laugh, comedy acts by stand-up comedians Papa CJ and Aaron Kader on September 12, 8.30 pm at the Jyotinivas Hall, Hosur Road. Aron Kader is a comedian based in Hollywood at the Comedy Store and a founding
member of The Axis Of Evil Comedy Tour. Papa CJ’s act is full of attitude, energy and caustic observations about society.

‘The Other Song’

The Bangalore International Centre and India Foundation for the Arts will screen a movie The Other Song, directed by Saba Dewan, on August 29, 6 pm at the Bangalore International Centre, Domlur. A discussion will follow the film screening.
