At the launch of Arjun Sarja’s comeback Kannada film Prasad, compliments were showered from all corners. Stars like Dwarkish, Ambarish, Sumalatha and even Sudeep came forward to show their support for the film. Most of them were there at the special screening held on the previous night of the launch and said that after watching the movie, they had tears in their eyes.

All of them were amazed that a commercial hero like Arjun Sarja could take up such an emotional subject. The movie revolves around a middle-class mechanic and his wife, who have a differently-abled child, who cannot hear or speak. “When I first heard it was Arjun Sarja’s movie, I thought it was going to be an action film.

But after seeing the film I realised that the ‘Action King’ has become the ‘Acting King’ as well,” says Sumalatha. Veteran film-maker Dwarakish was pleasantly surprised that there are still films like Prasad being made in Kannada. “The movie has touched my heart and I am sure that it will go ahead and claim many awards,” he adds.

Interestingly, the film stars a child artiste, who is differently-abled in real life as well. But the actors who have worked with him and have also seen the movie couldn’t believe the hidden talent in this child. “It’s such a simple movie. Earlier, I used to feel that talent needs no size but now I realise that to showcase real talent one needs no sound or words,” says Sudeep.

Music maestro Illayaraaja, who has composed the music and choreographer Shiamak Davar, who has played a small cameo in the movie were also present at the audio launch. Producer Ashok Khenny made it clear that the film is a commercial one and the highlight of the film is its story and music. “The music of this film is emotional. We want the audio to reach as many people as possible so we are distributing around 13,000 free CDs during the CCL matches,” he adds.
