The deceased has been identified as Abbas (34) from Kairangala. The injured Abdul Mazid (36) was riding the bike, while Abbas was the pillion rider. Mazid is recuperating at a private hospital, police said.
The victims were proceeding from Mudipu to Thokkottu, when the speeding lorry bound to Mudipu hit the bike. Lorry driver Abbas has been arrested. Konaje police have registered a case.
Boy dies
A 11-year-old boy from Ashoknagar in the city died after he fell into a water tank near an under-construction building at Hat Hill near Chilimbi on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Stany D’Sa, son of late Silvester D’Sa and Flavy D’Sa. Stany D’Sa was a V standard student of St Aloysius School, Urwa.
The mishap occurred when the boy had been to tuition. According to Urwa police the boy accidentally slipped into the tank that provides water to the construction site.
