Zonal-level sports meet begins in Kadur

 
He was presiding over the inaugural of Kadur zonal level sports meet held at Government PU College here on Tuesday. “When geographically small countries bag the highest number of medals in Olympics, our country slips to the bottom with minimum number of medals. This is regrettable,” he said.

“Sports not only increases one’s physical strengths but also mental capabilities. Sports strengthen relationship between countries. Hence, the governments should give more importance to sports,” he observed. BEO Ranganathswamy appealed the students to understand the essence of the adage “A sound mind in a sound body”.

Kanchivaradaraja High School President and TMC member Rudrambika Varadaraj said her institution would sponsor meals and prizes for all the athletes taking part in the meet.
Students from a total of 22 high schools are taking part in the sports meet.

Taluk Physical Education Coordinator Shivakumar received the torch. Youth Affairs and Sports officer Lingeshappa, physical education teachers Moganna Gowda, Jayanna, Belurappa, Rajappa, Nagendrappa, Girish and Sunitha were present.
