Last Updated 27 August 2009, 18:18 IST

A sum of Rs 46.515 lakh was released to the district administration last month under Prime Ministers’ National Relief Fund. The fund was distributed to all the taluks based on its demography. On this basis, N R Pura received a sum of Rs 2.60 lakh. Small and micro farmers, families of SC/ST can avail Rs 10,000 each from the Tahshildar for treatment of cancer, tuberculosis, kidney problems and cardiac problems after getting certificate from the Taluk health officer.

Though several economically backward families had send their applications to avail this facility to Health Department, it has shortlisted only 26 beneficiaries and sent the list to Taluk Office.

People who have sent their applications and are waiting for the money to start their treatment say that it is due to the negligence of the Tahshildar that they are suffering. The funds have been utilised completely in rest of the taluks.

The Tahshildar when asked about the delay in dispensation of the funds said that it has not been delayed so much that one can talk or make allegations based on it.

However, DC R Narayanaswamy said that steps will be taken at the earliest to distribute the funds to the beneficiaries.
