Furious over the ink thrown on Baba Ramdev on Saturday at a press conference, 25 of his supporters gathered outside  Congress headquarters on Monday in protest against the party. The protesters threw black ink over posters of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Police have detained two persons. “Narendra from Kanjhawala and Triobhuwan from Mehrauli were detained and a case has been registered under Section 153 of IPC with Tughlak Road police station,” said a police officer.

The supporters, under the banner of Yuva Bharat Kisan Panchayat, also shouted slogans outside Congress headquarters.

“They shouted slogans against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh. They said they won’t allow anyone to defame Ramdev. Some of them later threw black ink on a poster of Sonia Gandhi,” said a senior police officer.

A minor clash broke out between Ramdev supporters and party workers. Police brought the situation under control.

“Swami Ramdev condemns the act of throwing black ink on a poster of Sonia Gandhi,” said Ramdev’s spokesperson S K Tijarawala.

“Ramdev has said that such undemocratic and uncivilised methods of protest should not be encouraged. Such acts have no place in our rich culture and philosophy,” said Tijarawala.

“We neither support such act nor are we part of it. The Swamiji strongly stated that he was against any kind of violent or indecent methods of protest against anyone,” added Tijarawala.
