India's Suri stuns fifth seed Deviatkin

City based International Master Vaibhav Suri shocked fifth seed Grandmaster Andrei Deviatkin on the top board while West Bengal’s Diptayan Ghosh accounted for Grandmaster Richard Bitoon of Philippines in the fourth round of the 10th Parsvnath International Open Grandmasters chess tournament at the Ludlow Castle Sports Complex on Tuesday.

In other important fourth round encounters, Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte signed the peace treaty with Zeng Chongsheng of China while Praveen Thipsay suffered his first defeat in the tournament at the hands of Grandmaster Oliver Barbosa of Philippines. Top seed Sandipan Chanda made short work of Chinese lad Bai Jinshi.

In a surprising fourth round result, Shailendra Bajpai outwitted International Master Vakhidov Jahongir of Uzbekistan.
