JOIN USPolice arrested a lawyer from Periyapatna in Mysore district on charges of raping a girl in the city on Monday night.
The accused, Suresh, had taken a room on rent in a house at Kallahalli V V Nagar in the city. On Monday night, he offered to drop the victim at the bus stand, when she was waiting for a bus on Bannur Road. The unsuspecting girl went with Suresh and he took her to his room where he allegedly raped her.
He allowed the girl to go out late in the night. On getting information about the incident, the police arrested Suresh. The Mandya Police West have registered a rape case and are investigating.
The girl has been subjected to medical examination and the reason why she came to Mandya would be ascertained only after getting information from her parents, police said.
