'I didn't want to wear a bikini'

Candid Shot

You may get clean bowled at the first sight. For, Riya Sen’s sexy shoot for the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) calendar had eyeballs popping out and tongues wagging.

HOT:Riya sen

Riya explains that the brief for the CCL models was to be skimpily clad and look sensuous, but this was not something new for Riya as she has already had her share of such shots.

Riya, who is the brand ambassador of the ‘Bengal Tigers’, took some time off to chat with Metrolife about CCL and her future projects.

Sharing her experience of shooting for the CCL calender, Riya says, “The concept chalked out for the CCL calender was a bikini shoot but I didn’t want to wear a bikini.

I chose to wear something that was a little more concealing and something that was closer to the brief that was given. The idea was to look sexy and hot. I have attempted the same in the shoot and many people told me that it has come out well,” she adds.

Riya may not be in the news or seen too much in the Page 3 circuit but when she does, she is sure to hog the limelight.

She has signed a couple of projects in Bollywood. “I would like to take it slow, why should I rush into so many projects at a time?” she asks.

Riya will play the lead in Rajeev Ruia’s Zindagi 50-50, “I am having a great time working on the role but I can’t talk too much about it at the moment,” she avers.

Veena Malik and Riya are doing an item number for Zindagi... and Riya confesses that she was never against doing an item song, “What’s wrong in doing an item number?

I think it’s a good break in the film. I have always loved grooving to wacky numbers,” she adds. She’s also simultaneously shooting opposite Arshad Warsi in Hai Rabba Main Kya Karoon.

Riya Sen has come a long way after her debut as a child artist in Vishkanya in 1991. Her role as Bhama, who is lured by Digambaran in Santhosh Sivan’s Malayalam film Ananthabhadram, is by far the best character she has played so far. But she has not acted in any noteworthy  South Indian film after that. Why? She says the best roles from the South are yet to come her way.

“If something good and substantial pops up, then I wouldn’t mind considering it,” she says.

Riya has appeared in several item numbers and cameos and was even criticised for appearing semi-nude in a couple of films and on magazine covers as well. But this young lady who never seems to age, has no qualms about flaunting what she has. “It’s not about what you wear but who you are and how you carry it off,” she reasons.

She’s confident about whatever she does but ask her about her marriage plans and she simply prefers to ignore the question.  Then she says rather nonchalantly, “Why marriage now, I am not even thinking about it.”
