The Directorate of Education plans to recruit at least 200 Urdu teachers, keeping in view the need of Urdu language students.

Advertisement for the recruitment will start within a week, said education minister Arvinder Singh after holding a weekly review of the education department. Singh has expressed displeasure over vacant posts of Urdu teachers and instructed officials to start the recruitment process soon.

“An Urdu teacher will be appointed in each government school where Urdu language students are enrolled. The recruitment will be reviewed after every three months and more teachers will be recruited if needed,” added Singh.

The Right to Education Act has been implemented by the state government. As per relevant provisions of the Act, the government has started recruiting teachers to fill up 13,000 posts. This will help maintain a good student-teacher ratio.
