Inaugurating the second CyberKnife centre in South-Asia, former President APJ Abdul Kalam said that efforts must be made for early diagnosis of cancer and to fight the stigma attached to it. "Awareness on cancer must be spread among people through more Psycho-oncology centres", he said.

Dedicating the CyberKnife (the world’s first and only whole body non-invasive robotic radiosurgery system), the former President said, “I understand this equipment offers new hope to patients and this technology is a big step forward in conquering the disease.”
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that CyberKnife cancer treatment must be available in all district headquarters for easy accessibility. HCG launched "Sarva Cancer Chikitsa Yojane" to make advanced modern cancer care treatment to the masses.  A CD on the Yojane was released on the occasion along with a book "Fear of cancer" which had testimonies of cancer patients.

Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami, Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda, Chairman and CEO of HCG Dr Ajai Kumar were present on the occasion.

CyberKnife is a robotic radio surgery system designed to treat tumours in brain, spine, lung, liver, pancreas and prostate.

It delivers high doses of radiation with pinpoint, sub-millimetre accuracy focused precisely on the tumour making minimal damager to the surrounding tissue and critical organs.
