Schuler bets big on India

Germany-based €1 billion Schuler AG, provider of metal forming machine tools, is expanding its presence in India with focus on new areas like railways, packaging, power sector, aerospace among others.

The company, which recently bagged order from Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) for mechanical press is looking at similar orders from other automobile majors.

Schuler India Pvt Ltd Managing Director D M Thaker said: “The Company is presently in talks with Indian OEMs like Tata Motors for their Nano car plant in Sanand (Gujarat).”

“We are also in advance talks with Indian Railways to supply complete systems for forging and casting rail wheels,” he added.  The order size would be about €30 million, he said.  The company is aiming at total business of €100 million fromIndian operations in next three years. Presently, its turnover is about €30 million.
