After inaugurating the new railway service, he said the new train is a gift to coastal people and is a part of pro-development policy of the Central Government".Extension of Bangalore-Mangalore train to Kannur is inevitable as Railway is not restricted to any state, he said.
Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily who was present on the occasion said the new service would herald a new developmental era in the district.
State BJP President, D V Sadananda Gowda demanded formation of a separate Mangalore Railway division.
