DHiE Fest: Orchids, Sadvidya win

Talented students set stage on fire at annual event organised by Deccan Herald

In a glittering programme, The Orchids Public School and Sadvidya High School emerged champions in junior and senior categories respectively at the Deccan Herald in Education (DHiE) Fest 2011-12 held at Mahajana PU College here on Saturday.

Dance performance by students of various schools were greeted by loud cheers and whistles from the jam-packed audience. Setting the stage for the fest was a colourful dance performance by co-ordinators of the programme.

Dancing to a Punjabi song, The Orchids Public School grabbed the attention of the crowd by displaying their splendid skills. A ‘Chamak Challo’ performance by students of Pragathi Vidya Kendra had the audience tapping their feet.

‘Encourage talent’

Speaking on the occasion, deputy superintendent of police Dharanidevi Malagatti opined that students presented a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. 

She exhorted parents and teachers to identify talent and encourage students to participate in various extracurricular activities.

While Mysore Tarpaulins sponsored the prizes for the DHiE Fest 2011-12, KMF provided buttermilk as refreshment to students.  Mahajana Education Society offered the Vivekananda Auditorium to conduct the programme. Mahajana Education Society president R Vasudevamurthy, secretary G S Subrahmanya, The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited general manager (circulation) S Shivaramakrishna and others were present.
