18-year-old kills friend over Rs 17,000 debt

An 18-year-old, Class 12 student, was stabbed to death, in Bawana area of outer Delhi, by his friend over a debt, police said on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Dinesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Pana Begawan in Bawana, had given around Rs 17,000 to Amit, 19, a few months ago.

“Dinesh was stabbed multiple times by his friend Amit at around 5 pm on Saturday. He was rushed to a nearby Maharishi Balmiki Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead,” a senior police officer said.

Amit had been absconding after the incident. But on Sunday the police arrested him from his hideout.
The police said Amit had borrowed the money from Dinesh when they went on a trip to Manali.

“Dinesh had been pressurising Amit to return the money. His constant pestering enraged Amit and on Saturday evening he stabbed Dinesh to death,” the police added.

Amit has confessed to the murder but the weapon of the crime is yet to be recovered, the senior police officer said.

A case has been registered against Amit at Bawana Police Station. He faces charges of murder and causing disappearance of evidence of offence under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
