A 1975 batch IAS officer, Mishra, would succeed Ajit Kumar Tripathy, who is slated to attain superannuation on August 31, they said.
Mishra, currently holding the post of development commissioner, was the state's Home secretary during communal violence in Kandhamal and other parts of the state in the aftermath of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati's killing on August 23 last year.
A multi-faceted personality, Mishra is a distinguished writer and associated with several cultural activities besides discharging his duties and responsibilities as an administrative officer.
