Super-speciality hospital a mirage for CB Pur residents

Last Updated 31 January 2012, 18:14 IST

Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje had promised to build hospital

The promise of Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje to construct a super-speciality hospital in the city remains a pipe dream.

Even Union Minister of Corporate Affairs M Veerappa Moily’s assurance of constructing the hi-tech hospital remains yet to be realised.

“Forget about the super-speciality hospital, even the district hospital situated near the old bus stand in the City lacks infrastructure,” rue residents of Chikkaballapur.

“The District Administration vacated us from the Basappa Choultry to make way for the construction of the super-speciality hospital on its premises. We were rehabilitated at Kandavara. Since several months,  we are living in makeshift tents. There is no signs of any work on the hospital,” said residents.

Even as residents lament delay in construction of the hospital, arguments are rife regarding the location of the hospital.

While some are for the construction of the super-speciality hospital at Basappa Choultry in the taluk, others are for its construction near the new bus stand. Despite being a district hospital it lacks basic infrastructure. Moreover, assurances of upgrading and renovating the district hospital have only turned futile. Though a new bus stand was constructed in Chikkaballapur a few years ago, it remains under utilised, said Narayanswamy, a resident.
