PU teachers told to take special classes

Last Updated 31 January 2012, 19:34 IST

The State Government has directed PU teachers of government and aided colleges to conduct special classes for students on Sundays and holidays.

The direction comes in the aftermath of the boycott of classes by the teachers for eight days in December.

As many as 17,000 lecturers of government and aided PU colleges had boycotted classes between December 8 and 15 demanding that their salaries be brought on a par with degree teachers.

Kageri said teachers will conduct special classes on Sundays and holidays for five days, while two days would be considered as leave availed to make up for the eight days lost.
