Adarsh Society's secretary seeks defreezing of his accounts

Key accused in the Adarsh Housing Society scam R C Thakur and his family members have approached a special CBI court here, seeking defreezing of their bank accounts.

Thakur, the general secretary of the controversial society, his wife, son Navin Thakur and daughter-in-law Aarti have moved the court.

In the application, Thakur sought back personal documents pertaining to a house in Nagpur, and pension-related papers. He has also sought the key of his locker.

Adarsh Society too has moved an application to the court, demanding that the money seized by the CBI during the probe be put in fixed deposits. The court is likely hear the applications next week.

The 31-storey Adarsh building in the plush South Mumbai locality allegedly violated various environmental and civic rules. The CBI has registered an FIR against 13 persons, including former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan, in the case.
