Writer, researcher Basavaraju laid to rest in city

You may have seen a book near the exit of an expo for the visitors to ink their opinion.

But have you ever heard of visitor’s book at a house where the elderly man of the family has passed away.

The family members of noted litterateur L Basavaraju who passed away on Sunday set such an example. Most of the relatives, besides followers and disciples of the great soul who visited the residence here on Wednesday to pay their last respect to the departed soul wrote their opinions.

LB as L Basavaraju was popular among his close associates had many followers irrespective of caste and creed. Most among them wrote lines touching the hearts of LB’s family- his wife B Vishalakshi, daughter Nalini, foster daughter B  Sowbhagya, grandson Charuchandra who were inconsolable for a while.

The mortal remains was kept for sometime at his house in Jayalakshmipuram before the last rites was performed at Veerashaiva burial ground in Vidyaranyapuram.

Prominent among those who paid their last respects are- Suttur seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji, Nidumamidi mutt Seer Sri Veerabhadra Channamalla, Hosamutt seer Sri Chidananda, deputy commissioner P S Vastrad, SP R Dileep, mayor Pushpalatha Chikkanna, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat R Nallur Prasad, vice chancellor of University of Mysore V G Talawar, director of Rangayana B V Rajaram, Prasaranga Director C Naganna, Devanura Mahadeva couple, Horeyala Doreswamy, P V Nanjaraj Urs and others.

The body of LB was kept at a morgue in a private hospital to enable his daughter to pay last respects. Nalini works in Geneva.
