Celebrity chef to visit Manipal today

MasterChef India 2 host, Vikas Khanna, will be in Manipal for two days on an invitation from Manipal University Chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai.

The alumnus of Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, WGSHA, will grace the 26th annual day celebration of the College on February 3, at Fortune Inn Valley View.
 
“It is a matter of great joy and pride for the college to have Vikas, a world renowned chef, with us particularly this year as the college is celebrating the silver jubilee,” said Parvadhavardhini Gopalakrishnan, the Principal of the college. 

The celebrity chef will also be honoured with ‘ITC Chairman’s Distinguished Alumnus Award,’ a recognition conferred on its very special alumni who, with their special achievements and accomplishments have enhanced the name of Manipal University and College around the world.

Vikas who grew up in Amritsar, graduated from the 6th Course of WGSHA, in 1991. Thereafter, he underwent training in hotel chains like Taj, Oberoi, and Leela.

He later went to US to study at the Culinary Institute of America and Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.

Vikas Khanna has worked with the most celebrated chefs in New York and the world, and among his long list of awards and accolades, is Michelin Guide Starred Chef and also the recipient of Access to Freedom Award from SATH (The Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality).
