Fire safety must be in place: Walia

Health Minister Dr A K Walia directed the PWD officials and Medical Superintendents of Delhi government hospitals on Thursday to ensure that all hospitals review and upgrade their existing fire-fighting systems.

He directed that the hospitals must conform to the latest fire safety norms as stipulated by Delhi Fire Service and stressed that in compliance of the fire safety norms, the required civil and electric works, as well as procurement of equipment, must be speedily taken up.

The minister insisted that the water sprinklers, alarm system, hose pipes, fire-checking doors and dedicated water reservoir tanks must be in place as per required norms in two months.
