JOIN USA 30-year-old woman and her infant daughter were run over by a Saharanpur-bound train at a railway intersection in Shahdara in north-east Delhi, police said on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Suman and her daughter, Khushi, 2. Suman stayed with her husband Rakesh and four children at Amar Colony.
Shahdara Railway Police had received a call about the incident at around 10 pm.
“We were informed that a woman and a girl were run over by a train at an intersection. Suman’s corpse was cut into two pieces, while Khushi’s body was found in nearby bushes,” said deputy commissioner of police (railways) B S Gujjar.
Police said Suman left her home with Khushi after she had an argument with her in-laws on Thursday afternoon.
The bodies have been sent to a hospital in Dilshad Garden for post-mortem. “We are also investigating whether Suman committed suicide with Khushi,” said a police officer.
