Woman kills kids, survives suicide bid

A middle-aged woman killed her two children by pushing them into a canal near Hongahalli in the taluk on Monday morning, but survived after throwing herself into it.

Vasantha, daughter of Karigowda from Bore Ananduru in Mysore taluk, was married to Kumar, a native of Manchegowdan- akoppalu, 12 years ago.

Vasantha and Kumar had a marital dispute two years ago and the matter was resolved through the panchayat. On Sunday night, she had a quarrel with her co-sister, it is said.

Vasantha pushed her daughter Chetana, 11, and son Gautham, 8, into the right-bank canal flowing near the KRS reservoir and jumped into it. However, some farmers rescued her. The bodies of the two children were found a furlong away from the spot.
