Over a cup of coffee

The gorgeous Kareena Kapoor and the mischievous Imran Khan got together for a talk show hosted by the devil’s advocate Karan Johar recently. What wasn’t expected was the extent of bold fun that happened when the three stars got together for ‘A Date With Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ — a show which was aired on ETC and many of the Zee channels over the weekend.

The mood for the show was set early on when KJo asked Imran if he’d thought of undergoing therapy for obsessive compulsive disorder. “Never, I quite enjoy being obsessively organised,” replied Imran without batting an eyelid.

As the chat proceeded, it appeared as if Karan had touched a raw nerve when he told Imran, “Kareena postponed dates for Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu as she preferred doing ‘Bodyguard’ first. She chose Salman over you.” Not the one to be flustered, Imran shot back, “If you have to lose, that’s someone to lose to.” Having failed to get the better of Imran, KJo trained his guns on Kareena.

“How do you feel when you see Saif in an intimate scene with another hot actress? Say in Race 2, Saif has a bare-body scene with a Deepika in bikini, what would be your first thought?” Kareena added, with a twinkle in her eye, “I’d be like, ‘Wow! How hot Saif looks?’ I know how he looks bare-bodied!”
When probed further, Kareena revealed, “I am quite secure in my relationship with Saif and though I don’t want to say too much too soon, I am quite content.”

‘Anything for Rajnikanth’

Anything for Rajnikanth, says Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, who has made a cameo appearance in the legendary Tamil actor’s new film Kochadaiyyan.

“Rajniji’s daughter Soundarya is directing the film with her dad in the lead. So sweet! She asked me to make a cameo appearance in the film with her father. I immediately flew down to Chennai. When it comes to anything to do with Rajnikanth, one doesn’t ask questions. One just does the needful,” said Jackie.

“It’s an interesting cameo which Soundarya insisted only I could play. I believe the film is in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. But even if it was in Swahili, I’d run and do it for Rajnikanth,” added the actor who celebrated his birthday on February 1.

He had to rush to Chennai for the shoot. “My birthday is generally a very quiet affair. As always my rakhi-sister Anna Singh came home. Then we went to Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza’s sangeet. That’s where I brought in my birthday. I flew into Chennai for Rajniji’s film early next morning. I can’t think of a better way to spend my birthday.” Getting a little philosophical, Jackie said, “Honestly a birthday is no big deal. I am just beginning to understand life. My first 40 years went into growing up. Now I am finally getting to know what this whole business of living is all about.”

Jackie and Rajni go back a long way.

“He was one of the few people at my wedding with Ayesha when we got married in 1989. Rajniji and I were shooting for Subhash Ghai’s Uttar Dakshin, in which he played my younger stepbrother. It was so much fun. I was the North Indian, he was my South Indian brother. During the lunch break Ayesha and I decided to get married. Just the two of us and those close to us. There was Rajniji, Subhash Ghai, Dimple Kapadia, Anupam Kher and a few of my other friends, that’s it. So you see, I’ve very fond memories of Rajnikanth and would never say no to anything to do with him or his family,” said the actor.

At home on Sundays

With packed schedules for over a year, Kangana Ranaut finally has some free time to stay at home. Since she had six releases in the last one year, Kangana could never spend quality time with her family. However, these days she is making sure she stays at home each Sunday. If that is not enough, she even indulges in some cooking.

“Yes, I have now started staying at home on Sundays. We all cook and eat, watch  good movies and spend some real quality time with each other. I have realised that I not only enjoy this Sunday routine, but also find it de-stressing. For me, Sunday is all about cooking and chilling out with family now,” says the lady. Happy cooking Kangana!

A mockery of present times

Actress, singer, model and writer Yuki Ellias held a special screening of her debut Hinglish film ‘Love You To Death’ in Mumbai recently. The film is a wild comic thriller that mocks the crazy times we live in.

Triggered partially by newspaper stories of greed, it includes a bunch of bumbling murder attempts. The highlight of the film is a spectacular dog funeral with dogs of all breeds in attendance.

The talented ensemble cast includes Chandan Roy Sanyal, Suhasini Mulay, Sheeba Chadha and introduces Yuki Ellias. The film has been screened in seven festivals in India, the United States and Canada. It even won an Audience Award in Anchorage, a city in Alaska.

Chandan Roy Sanyal came for the screening with Sagar Salunke, while Yuki came with music director Ronit Chaterji and co-actor Kallol Bannerji.
