ABVP calls for bundh today

Akhila Bharat Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) has called for a State-wide engineering college bundh on February 8 demanding expulsion of tainted Vishweshwaraiah Technical University Vice-Chancellor.

A release from ABVP office-bearers said that the Governor must immediately expel Dr Maheshappa from the post of the Vice-Chancellor and initiate strict actions against him for misleading the search committee.

The organisation has said that the government must immediately stop Dr Maheshappa from taking any major decisions especially in the financial matters.

The Parishat has said that if appropriate and immediate action is not taken in this regard thousands of engineering students will go on strike under the leadership of ABVP, protesting the inactions of the Governor and the State government. ABVP has also given call for the state-wide engineering college bundh in this regard on February 8.

The release informed that the High Court in its recent verdict had agreed that false information was submitted to the search committee and the Government by the VC with regard to his academic credentials to get the post.

The Parishat has opined that after the verdict Dr Maheshappa should have stepped down from the post voluntarily but by not doing so he has indicated that he is the culprit.
