SIT submits final report on Gujarat riots case

SIT submits final report on Gujarat riots case

The Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2002 Gujarat riots has submitted its report in a close cover to the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

It is being speculated that SIT has submitted the closure report which may give a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and senior bureaucrats and politicians who were alleged to have aided and abetted the  riots.

Sources in SIT have confirmed that the final report was submitted but refused to divulge further details on the same.

Zakia Jafri, the widow of former Congress MP Ahsaan Jafri who was killed in Gulbarg Society massacre on February 28, 2002 had filed a complaint against Modi and 62 other senior politicians besides bureaucrats for aiding and abetting the crime.
