A short trip to a nearby market into five hours of hell for a 15-year-old girl in Kanjhawala in outer Delhi.

She was pulled into a car, raped by two men for hours and then dumped into bushes near her home. The gang-rape took place on Tuesday evening, but the police reported it on Friday – well after they had arrested the two suspects. They were traced within 24 hours, police said. The 15-year-old girl had gone to the market to buy milk for her home.

“While she was walking towards the market and reached near Utsav Vihar, a car suddenly topped near her. Unaware of the motive of those inside it, she kept on  walking. Two men came out of the car and rushed towards her. They dragged her into  the car and fled,” said a senior police officer.
They happened to be men known to her. A passerby alerted the police. While the police in the area put all available men on the job of locating the car, the abductors took turns to rape her in the moving car.
The traumatised victim later walked to her home and narrated the assault to her  family members who informed the police.
“A medical examination of the victim has confirmed that she was raped. The accused were then arrested after she made a statement that she had met them on one or two occasions,” the officer said. They were her brother-in-law’s friends.
Police zeroed in on the alleged rapists on Wednesday. Manoj, an autorickshaw driver, and Amit, who has a transport business, are residents of Mangolpuri.
Police said both have a criminal background and about 10 cases registered against them at several police stations in the Delhi.  The girl had studied till class VII but due to financial problems at home could not continue her education.
