The first flower and horticulture exhibition organised at PRS horticulture field concluded on Sunday with more than 15,000 people witnessing it.

Farmers, students, representatives of various organisations and public visited as many as 30 stalls here, collected lots of information and enjoyed watching the exhibition. The three-day event was organised by District administration, Zilla Panchayat, Horticulture department and Nandi Kala Udyana Sangha.

On the closing day, all the persons who set up stalls here were distributed certificates.

“State government had allocated grants and we wanted to utilise it for a right cause. This made us arrange for the exhibition within a small period of time. As it was the first such even organised since Chikkaballapur was declared a district, we were apprehensive about its success. But a we are really happy as there has been good response from the farmers,” said B S Shekharappa, ZP CEO and Nandi Kala Udyan Sangh president speaking to Deccan Herald.

Most visitors liked Nandi designed with 12,000 roses, Shiva’s mantap carved from banana stems, dragon made by banana leaves. There was an opinion this exhibition was organised in the likes of the one at Lalbagh in Bangalore,” he added.
