She gave this clarification responding to the villagers’ plea for legalising such lands during the janaspandana programme held at Balekoppa Higher Primary School in Khandya hobli on Saturday.

The process of legalising the revenue land under the provisions of law is being carried out in phases. As per a Supreme Court judgement of 2002, one cannot legalise the revenue land under the possession of the forest department, she said.

All efforts are being done to address the problems raised in janaspandana on the spot. Solutions will be given to issues with technical problems within 10 days.

If any official fails to do so, he should face action, the Tahsildar warned.

When the villagers expressed their disappointment over the delay in disposing applications related o Sandhya Suraksha and widow allowance schemes, Veena asked the officials concerned to look into the matter first.

Huyigere Gram Panchayat President Shankaregowda alleged that the officials are not showing their commitment in implementing the NREGS since they could not misuse the funds.

Bidare Gram Panchayat President Indra Poojary handed over Sandhya Suraksha bonds to beneficiaries on the occasion. Former TP chief Siddappa Gowda among others were present.
