Meet on 'Suvarna samskrithika samucchaya' on September 8

The government had released Rs 1.07 crore for the construction of Suvarna Samskrithika Samucchaya in Madikeri as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations. The works could start so far due to non availability of land.

It may be recalled that Deccan Herald had highlighted this problem recently. Following this, the Department of Kannada and Culture responded to the issue by directing its director Manu Baligar to take initiative in this regard.

Consequently, Baligar sent directions to DC and Kannada and Culture Department assistant director K Damodar to take immediate action. Baligar stated in a letter sent to DC that the land for the construction of cultural centre has not been identified so far, even after three years of foundation laying ceremony. Hence, the matter should be discussed to find solution to issue, he directed. The meeting will be held at the Kannada and Culture Department Office at 4 pm.
