Going global: DhanushKolaveri Di hitmaker Dhanush says that his upcoming Tamil film ‘3’ will be dubbed in Hindi.

Dhanush, 28, who is the son-in-law of superstar Rajnikanth, said there will be some delay to the film’s release because they are planning a global release.

“‘3’ will be released in Hindi dubbed, Telugu dubbed and Tamil with English subtitle all over the world. It will hit the screens March end or April. Since it’s a national release, it’s taking time (sic),” he posted on Twitter.

Directed by wife and debut director Aishwarya Dhanush, the film stars Dhanush and Shruti Hassan in the lead roles.

Cruising together

B-town celebrities are busy making plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day in their own special way. Some are even reaching out to their fans. The pretty Amrita Rao, last seen in ‘Love U…Mr Kalakaar’, will be celebrating Valentine’s Day aboard a luxury yacht with five of her biggest fans.

The date, part of a contest run by Rediff Deal Ho Jaye, will be won by five online shoppers from across the country.

They will be flown down to Mumbai by Rediff and will spend the day with the star on a specially organised cruise.

Out of the race

Unprofessional: Deepika PadukoneActress Deepika Padukone has made a sudden exit from Abbas-Mustan’s much-awaited thriller ‘Race 2’, leaving the film-makers miffed with her alleged unprofessional behaviour.

The action thriller film, produced under Tips Films, is the sequel to the 2008 hit film ‘Race’, with an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Amisha Patel. After having completed a week of shooting, Deepika backed out at the last minute from the sequel, which has left producer Ramesh Taurani upset.

“I have been a part of the Hindi cinema industry for 25 years. I have made several blockbusters. But I have never faced a situation like this before. Our directors and the other actors are extremely annoyed with her (Deepika),” Taurani said in a statement.

“Tips, as a company, in its last 25 years has never had a dispute with anyone in this industry. There is no single case in the association which involves us, it will be very sad and uncalled for if matters go to that level,” he said. The producer is even more upset with the fact that he was among the last to know of her decision. “It was on January 27 when people kept calling me asking whether Deepika was out of ‘Race 2’. I was clueless.

I called her and asked her — she simply said she would come to my office by 5 pm with her new manager to work out everything. Later, she said she wouldn’t be able to keep the appointment,” Taurani said.

“However, it was told that her manager would be present on her behalf. Finally, when the manager arrived, he simply told me that Deepika wouldn’t be able to do our film. And that’s because she is doing a major Hollywood project,” Taurani said.

Citing unavailability of dates and being over-committed to other projects, Deepika seemed indifferent to the developments after having left the film in the lurch. “I went to her shooting. We tried to reason it out with her. But she refused to even listen.

Forget about anything else, she did not even apologise for her action. She seems to have no remorse,” Taurani said. The film is set to release in November this year.

Set to scorch B-town

With its rights up for grabs, the Tamil super hit Paiyaa seems to have grabbed the attention of three megastars — Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Both Aamir and Salman have shown Bollywood how well-made South Indian remakes can rake in fortunes as their films like Ghajini, ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Wanted’ have been huge hits.

Akshay Kumar, who is set to star in the remake of Don Seenu, Ravi Teja’s masala Telugu hit, has not really tested this formula of success so far.

Paiyaa, a romantic movie, could go a long way in infusing a refreshing change in the careers of the three superstars. For the Khans, it could prove to be a break from hard-hitting action, reviving the magic of their earlier, romantic image. For Akshay, Paiyaa could be a blessing after the relentless spate of comedies he has done, marking a major watershed in his long career.

Paiyaa is an interesting journey of a young couple. It revolves around the various obstacles the couple faces during a trip and the way they bond together.

Written and directed by N Linguswamy, the original film had Karthik Sivakumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Milind Soman and Sonia Deepti in the lead.

Caught in The knot

Actress Esha Deol, daughter of veteran actors Hema Malini and Dharmendra, got engaged to her businessman-boyfriend Bharat Takhtani during the weekend.

Esha, 29, has been dating the Bandra-based businessman for some time now. The couple exchanged rings on February 12.

“The engagement happened this Sunday. I am very happy that my daughter is getting engaged. He (Bharat) is a lovely boy and we all like him. It is a very happy moment not only for her (Esha) but for the entire family,” said Hema.

“It is a very happy occasion so we will have to do it on a proper date, a good day. We shall announce it as soon as we zero down on any date,” she said.

Esha made her comeback with Tell Me Oh Khhuda last year, directed by her mother.

Though it was made on a large scale and starred superstars like Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna and Dharmendra, the film did not fare well at the box office. Esha had earlier said that she would go for a love marriage with the approval of her parents.
