'PHCs should have Ayurveda, Homeo doctors'

 
Dr B T RudreshIn an interview to Deccan Herald, he said that even alternative medicines, which are time tested wings of medicine are effective in treating ailments. “Government must provide an opportunity to doctors of alternative medicines to show the healing capacity in their respective systems,” he said and added that only when alternative medicines get a hold, the unholy nexus between doctors and pharmaceutical companies will end. With regard to development of medical colleges, Rudresh opined that the present day medical pass outs are thinking twice to take up duty in rural areas.

“Rural medical health scenario will not change till pass outs willingly come forth to take up rural postings,” he said and added that on one hand medical education has become a costly affair and on the other hand there are deemed universities acting as per their will an wish.

Centre is determined to bring in stern policies to bring control over these medical institutions. The hands of University of Health Sciences will be strengthened. Dr Rudresh said that knowledge commission was the brain child of CM B S Yeddyurappa.

“As a politicians he has his own constrains but I appreciate him for his idea of knowledge commission,” he said and added that Kasthuri Rangan is the Chairman of the Commission , M K Sridhar is the Secretary. The work of the Commission is to make a data bank to complement the development of the state and direct the new projects.
