‘It’s an honour to work with Aamir’

Abhishek Bachchan, whose last flick ‘Players’ failed to set the box-
office afire, has teamed up with Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 and says it’s an honour
to work with the talented actor.

“I’m very excited about starting Dhoom again and working with Aamir. Aamir has become a standard for us today. He is a senior. He is somebody whose work I have admired since the start of my career, even when I was in school,” the 36-year-old said recently.

“I have grown up watching his films. It’s a matter of great honour for me to be able to share screen space with him. I’m very excited,” he added.

Dhoom 3 will see Abhishek reprising his role of ACP Jai Dixit as seen in the first two franchises of the series.

Besides Dhoom 3, Abhishek is also working on Bol Bachchan and Chakravyuha.

A mighty blow

Actors tend to get hurt many a time when they shoot for fight sequences. The latest celebrity to get injured during one such shoot is Pakistani singer-cum-actor Ali Zafar.

Ali was engaged in a fight sequence with co-star Ayaz Khan on the sets of David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor. But as the shoot progressed, Ali got hurt.

The whole episode happened so quickly that it took time for Ayaz realise that his co-star was hurt. Though the injury was unintentional, Ayaz apologised for what had happened. Recalling the incident Ayaz says, “I was really upset about what had happened but accidents often take place and I’m glad that Ali is recovering quickly from the injury.”

Starting his film career with appearances in movies like ‘Bluffmaster’ and ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’, Ayaz made his presence felt with his performance in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.

He even had a fight scene with Imran Khan in the film which left quite an impact on the audience. All we can do is wait and watch what this tough guy will unveil on the silver screen yet again.

A fan of Chan

Kangana Ranaut, who is currently shooting for Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 3, is determined to give her 100 per cent to the film. She is getting trained in martial arts, film action, kickboxing, stretching and yoga to get in form for her role.

Ask Kangana about her love for action and thrill and she says, “I remember watching Jackie Chan’s movies as a child and trying to imitate his moves. It would be a privilege to meet him in person.”

So which is her favourite Jackie Chan movie? “His work is so good and versatile that it’s difficult to choose one. But I like ‘Jackie Chan Project’ and ‘Police Story’. I really like ‘Rush Hour’ as well. It’s so difficult to mix fight scenes with humour but Jackie Chan has done a commendable job in that film.”

Looks like Jackie Chan has a pretty actress to add to his list of fan following.

Open to all roles

Vikramjeet Virk is a Punjabi actor trying to make his presence felt in Bollywood. But his performance as the villain in the recently-released Malayalam film ‘Casanovva’, with Mohanlal in the lead, has fetched him rave reviews.

“The character of Alexi that I play in ‘Casanovva’ is akin to the character that John Abraham did in Dhoom,” says Vikramjeet.

“Even before my debut film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se had released, I was introduced to Roshan Andrews, the director of ‘Casanovva’. He immediately cast me in the action-packed film after having a look at my physique. After working with Mohanlal, I am in awe of him. Though he is such a big star, he is so down-to-earth on the sets,” he adds.

Vikramjeet, who has also played the lead in the Punjabi film Yaara Naal Bahara directed by Samit Brar, is also playing the role of Ghaznavi in the serial Shobha Somnath Ki. “My focus is more on films and it does not matter whether I get positive or negative roles as long as I get to play meaty characters,” says Vikramjeet.

‘I wasted four months last year’

Deepika Padukone has been at the receiving end of producer Ramesh Taurani’s ire for walking out of Race 2. The actress clarified why she did so in an interview recently.

On being asked if she was aware that Ramesh has filed a complaint against her, she answered, “Yes, they have asked me for my comments and I will be sending the same shortly.”

What about Ramesh’s allegations that she left the film after the shooting
began? “The film has been delayed for one-and-a-half  years. I adjusted my dates all this time. And I would still do it but now those dates are committed to other films.

It is a genuine problem. I wasted four months last year that I had kept aside for this film. But now my other films are starting and I cannot adjust anymore,” she averred.

Tunes from the heart

Be it Doorie in 2006 or his compositions for the film ‘Prince’, young music director Sachin Gupta seems to know how to keep music-lovers happy.

Sachin is now busy composing for his next film titled Isaaq which features Prateik in the lead. The movie is produced by Shailesh Singh of Paramhans Creations (Tanu Wed Manu, Anwar) and directed by Manish Tiwari. The story is a modern take on Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and is based in Banaras.

The challenge for Sachin was to create music that reflects the spirit of Banaras and River Ganga but still has the new age funk to connect to the youth of today. “Isaaq is a film shot in Banaras, the holy city.

So my music had to be earthy and contemporary but commercial at the same time. I believe in simple tunes and melody and that’s what I have tried to do in this film. I tried a Ganga bhole arti fusion, which has never been done before in movies. So I hope the audience will like the newness of this creation.”

What’s more, Sachin roped in Rahul Ram, the lead vocalist of the popular band ‘Indian Ocean’ to sing this song, which is titled Bhole Chale. “The reason why I wanted Rahul Ram was because of his rustic, raw and earthy voice. Band culture in India is not huge but lead singers from certain bands like Rahul Ram have truly exceptional voices. I really wanted to explore his voice and since I believe in the band culture of India, I believe his voice will bring something new to the audiences.

What appeals most to me is that he sings from his soul and that’s what makes a song complete. That being said, I have known Rahul from the time I used to play for a band called Mrigya. He’s extremely fun and a fantastic human being to work with. I call him the Bindass Baba,” exclaims Sachin.

Looks like we will get to hear something new and refreshing from this talented artiste yet again.
