Woman succumbs to burns

The wife of a CISF constable who had set herself ablaze on February 8, succumbed to burns at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday.

According to police, Sony Kumari, wife of Sanjeev Kumar was depressed over the poor health of her two children.

She had delivered a baby prematurely and there was no improvement in its health even after a month. Her three-year-old son too had problems in speaking.

On February 8, Sony locked her husband in a room and set herself ablaze. The brother of Sony had lodged a complaint against Sanjeev. However, investigation revealed that Sanjeev had no role in his wife’s death.

Found hanging

A 24-year-old married woman hanged herself at her Austin Town flat in Vivek Nagar on Monday evening.

According to police, Rehana was married to Mazar Ahmed and the couple had a four-year-old son.

Mazar, who was into automobile business, had been jobless for the past four years. Rehana took the extreme step unable to bear the torture allegedly by her husband and mother-in-law. Mazar has been taken into custody and cops are awaiting the return of his mother from the Gulf.
