Sign Language course

Adarsh Vidya Sangha has started a Basic Sign Language Course for communication purpose. Classes will be held at SRN Adarsh College, No. 75, V Main Road, Devanathachar Street, Chamarajpet Bangalore-18 between 9.30 am and 11.30 am every Saturday. The duration will be for two months. Classes will commence from February 18, 2012 onwards.

Third igenius scholarship contest

Max New York Life Insurance recently announced the 3rd Max New York Life igenius Scholarships - 2012, its parent-child engagement initiative. This scholarship programme has added a new category ‘igenius Primary’ for children in Nursery to Class 2. The igenius programme will also provide 2,000 child well-being sponsorships to socially and economically disadvantaged children.

The Max New York Life igenius programme identifies, rewards and supports talent development among children who display all-round skills. The programme has no registration fee and provides a first prizes of Rs 10 lakh in each of its three categories – Primary (Nursery to Class 2); Junior (Class 3 to Class 5) and Senior (Class 6 to Class 8).
For the Primary category, registration is open only through agent advisors, distribution channels and at Max New York Life branch offices. For the Junior and Senior categories, students wanting to participate in the 3rd Max New York Life igenius Scholarship -2012 can register online, at www.igenius.org, or through the company’s branch offices and other networks. The company will also run a school programme for Junior and Senior category.

Registration for igenius Scholarship 2012 closes on March 31, 2012.

JRF application

Applications are invited from candidates for JRF (1 No) under BRNS, Mumbai research project entitled “Evaluation of role of phytochemicals of garcinia indica consequent to radiotherapy”. Candidates with an M.Sc degree in Biochemistry and with a minimum of 55 per cent marks (GM) and 50 per cent marks (SC/ST) can apply. Maximum age limit is 40 years.

Interested candidates can apply along with their bio-data addressed to Dr H D Ramachandran, Reader, Department of Biochemistry, Bangalore University, Bangalore – 560 001 by February 16, 2012.

Learn Mandarin

The Bangalore chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai conducts a 40-hour course in conversational Mandarin (Level 1), reading and writing skills in Pinyin. The institute also offers Level 2 where one can learn to read and write characters along with advanced grammar. The weekend course is of 5 hours each on Saturday and Sunday (for 4 weeks).
