Minister criticised for crude words

Last Updated 15 February 2012, 18:24 IST

District In-charge Minister A Narayanaswamy’s threat in the recent Zilla Panchayat meeting to ‘chop off’ officers ‘who fail to perform’ has earned severe criticism from members of the common-minded people’s committee.

They accused the minister of throwing democratic rules to the wind by abusing officers unhindered. They added that his action proved the quality of administration provided by the ruling party in the State government.

“Ministers have to come out of the illusion that referring to somebody in a meeting in singular and shouting at him will solve problems. Officers who commit mistakes or crimes should be taken to task as per the law. No action should be taken that is a violation of the Constitution or the democratic principles,” said committee members C V Anand and Yaluvahalli Sonnegowda.
