JOIN USA 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted a remote region of Tibet, close to the Indian border today, though there were no reports of casualties.
The quake was felt strongly in parts of the Ge'gyai county, with residents saying that cracks appear in walls of their houses, said Tashicomo, head of the county government.
She said while there were no reports of casualties by noon today, work groups had been sent to remote villages and towns to double check the quake damage, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The China Earthquake Networks Centre said the quake struck Ge'gyai at 11:44 pm (Beijing time last night), with the epicentre located at a depth of 20 km.
Ge'gyai is a sparsely populated herding county located in a remote mountainous area some 1,560 km west of the regional capital Lhasa. Ngari prefecture is located close to India-Nepal border.
