Ex-CM to celebrate Shivarathri in Kashi

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will celebrate Shivarathri in Varanasi with fellow Lingayats.

The BJP leader, who will be accompanied by his trusted lieutenants, V Somanna and M P Renukacharya, will leave for Varanasi from Hubli on Sunday.

Speculations are rife that Yeddyurappa has been snubbed and sidelined by his party leaders and colleagues. Also, despite being a prominent Lingayat face, he will not be part of the Siddaganga Mutt’s Shivarathri celebrations on Monday.

‘Out of my purview’

When asked about the Udupi-Chikmagalur elections and Lokayukta appointment, Yeddyurappa, on Saturday morning, said that the subjects were out of his purview and that he would be celebrating Shivarathri in Kashi.

Sources said that Yeddyurappa will be participating in the inaugural function organised by the Kashi Vishwanatha Janagama Mutt in Varanasi, to which he had donated Rs one crore last year.
