Quite a track record!

Hot : Malaika Arora Khan

Choreographer-director Farah Khan says she and Malaika Arora were under a lot of pressure while shooting for the song Anarkali Disco Chali for ‘Housefull 2’ because so far, their team has been hugely successful.

The 47-year-old has choreographed the song for her brother Sajid Khan’s directorial venture ‘Housefull 2’, which is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. “I think Malaika and me have a track record. We have done three songs together and all three of them have been very successful, so there was a lot of pressure.

The song Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala had given was Anarkali Disco Chali, which was a different take for both of us,” Farah said at a promotional event for ‘Housefull 2’. “I hope that this song keeps our track record because we have done Chaiya Chaiya, Kaal Dhamaal and Munni. So I hope this works well,” she added.

Farah had also choreographed the item song Honth Rasiley for ‘Welcome’, which also featured Malaika. Talking about her younger brother Sajid, Farah said she is very proud of him for making big and hit films like ‘Housefull’ and ‘Heyy Babyy’. “I feel very proud that Sajid is making such big films and he is making such hit films.

For me, he will always be my younger brother. Every time I feel that I will quit being a choreographer, these two (Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala) take dates from me over Rakshabandhan,” joked Farah.

Slated for release on April 5, ‘Housefull 2’ stars 12 actors — Akshay Kumar, Shreyas Talpade, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Boman Irani, Zarine Khan, Asin Thottumkal, Shazahn Padamsee and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Farah is busy with her maiden acting assignment — she is making her debut with Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi opposite Boman Irani.

Normal fascination for the paranormal

A video clip of a young girl, titled ‘Simran Possessed’, is making its mark in a major way on Youtube with over 1,66,716 hits in 14 days. This hunger for exploring the paranormal has prompted Percept Pictures to actually pick up the footage found from two youngsters Yash Dave and Allison Patel, to soon release it as the first film without a title.

On November 10, 2010, a group of seven students went to a place to shoot their final year project film. Few days later, their families received an SMS stating that they were in serious trouble and needed help urgently. When the authorities reached the spot, they only found a hand-held camera.

The film is a compilation of actual footage captured in that camera with the visuals and sounds for public viewing. “Many have grown up watching ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’, ‘Angel’, ‘Charmed’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘X-Files’. The global television is flooded by the paranormal. This fascination for the paranormal is simply normal,” says Shailendra Singh of Percept Pictures.

The big question

Upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy ‘Will You Marry Me?’, directed by Aditya Dutt, will always mean a lot to actress Celina Jaitley.

It was during the filming of this film that hotelier Peter Haag popped the question — “Will you marry me?” to Celina. This took everyone, including Celina herself,  by surprise. The actress is now happily married and based in Dubai. She shuttles between Mumbai and Dubai quite often for film shoots.

Apart from Celina, the film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Rajeev Khandelwal and Mugdha Godse. The light-eyed actress confirms, “Yes, it’s true that Peter proposed to me while I was shooting for ‘Will You Marry Me?’ and it was the best surprise. I may do a lot of films but this experience will always be special and close to my heart.”

‘Will You Marry Me?’ is about a beach wedding. It’s shot in several locations including Dubai, Mumbai and Bangkok.

A mockery of present times

Actress, singer, model and writer Yuki Ellias held a special screening of her debut Hinglish film ‘Love You To Death’ in Mumbai recently. The film is a wild comic thriller that mocks the crazy times we live in.

Triggered partially by newspaper stories of greed, it includes a bunch of bumbling murder attempts. The highlight of the film is a spectacular dog funeral with dogs of all breeds in attendance.

The talented ensemble cast includes Chandan Roy Sanyal, Suhasini Mulay, Sheeba Chadha and introduces Yuki Ellias. The film has been screened in seven festivals in India, the United States and Canada. It even won an Audience Award in Anchorage, a city in Alaska.

Chandan Roy Sanyal came for the screening with Sagar Salunke, while Yuki came with music director Ronit Chaterji and co-actor Kallol Bannerji.
