Tata plans endless talktime for Re1

The launch of  ‘Pay Per Call’ by Tata Indicom, CDMA mobile service of Tata Teleservices Ltd, on Tuesday, is another such effort.

Under the ‘Pay Per Call’ offer for its pre-paid subscribers Tata Indicom will charge Re 1 for all local calls and Rs 3 for all STD calls regardless of the call’s duration. Tata Teleservices, Regional Head — South & Circle Operating Officer Karnataka Circle — Sanjeev Khera told reporters: “With this we are trying to completely break free from the usual pulse rate system of various durations. Now, subscribers will pay a fixed amount for a call no matter how long he/she talks.”

Moreover, the offer is valid on all calls made by Tata Indicom subscribers to any mobile phone or land line, on any network. Under this scheme, SMS will be offered at 50 paise for both national and local messages.

The scheme is initially being introduced on the pre-paid platform, and all subscribers who opt for it will be charged a daily fee of Re 1 to avail this special tariff option. This means, a subscriber will have to pay Rs 30 a month as fixed charge over and above the call/ SMS charges.
