All India library conference in M'lore from today

More than 200 papers will be presented during the meet

The 57th All India Library Conference of Indian Library Association will commence on February 23 at St Agnes College in City. The theme of the conference is ‘Knowledge Society: Innovations in Librarianship’.

Around 350 delegates from different universities, colleges and government and non-government librarians across the country are expected to take part in this three-day conference. Eminent scientists and scholars in the field will address the participants about the innovations in library and information science and guide them to promote research activities in this field.

There will be more than 200 paper presentations from the delegates during the technical and parallel sessions.

Karnataka Collegiate Education Commissioner Shashidhar K R will inaugurate the conference. University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences Associate Professor Bharat Mehra will deliver the keynote address. University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Dr V G Talwar, Manipal University former vice chancellor Professor B M Hegde and Indian Overseas Bank Chairman and Managing Director M Narendra will be the chief guests of the function. Indian Library Association President Dharm Veer Singh will preside over the function.

The valedictory function will be held on February 25. Nitte University Chancellor Dr N Vinay Hegde, Informatics India Private Limited Chairman and Managing Director Satyanarayana N V and Department of Public Libraries Director K G Venkatesh will be the chief guests during the valedictory.

The conference is organised in association with Karnataka Sate College Librarians’ Association and St Agnes Centre for PG Studies and Research.
