AP Assembly to discuss liquor scam

The Andhra Pradesh state Assembly budget session which was unable to take any business owing to the Rs 2,000 crore liquor syndicate scam and Telangana issue, will finally take up a special discussion on Thursday on the controversial Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raids conducted against several liquor syndicates across the state recently.

Earlier in the day, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly decided to take up a discussion on the liquor syndicates in the state, their relations with several politicians and officials and the recent disputed raids. Incidentally, the main Opposition Telugu Desam has been stalling the House over the issue not being taken up for discussion.

Meanwhile, the tainted Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana met Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy over the issue. He was summoned by Reddy as a liquor syndicate leader and main accused in the liquor pay offs issue of Khammam district.
