It has been a mission of Raasavrunda to set to dance technique, the multi-layered beauty of the form and content of ancient Indian heritage to facilitate the subtle and ultimate experiences of essential and spiritual core of Indian classical dances.

Guru Valmiki Banerjee and his troupe Delhi Ballet Group have an impressive catalogue of achievements. They are working consistently and intensely towards their objectives like research in music, folk art, Rabindranatyam and dance heritage.

Rabindranatyam

A pure form of Tagore’s dance is well-known for its own special identity and appeal.  It has all the requisite qualities for inclusion in the exclusive list of the Indian classical dances. Rabindranatyam has its own style. This dance performed in its pure form almost recreates the six seasons from Baishah to Chaitra in their true inner music and colours.

The exposition of culture of the people through the medium of Rabindranatyam has its own scientific basis.

One such great man was Rabindranath Tagore, who created many things, out of which Guru Valmiki has selected the element of dance. He created Rabindranatyam with its own distinctive system to make it easily recognisable to every one. Tagore had the technique of blending bhoga with bhakti and presented his dance against a background of social and patriotic emotions. Moreover, in doing so he mixed folk-culture and classical tenet in a classically methodical manner.

In Rabindranatyam, mudra is used to facilitate expression of theme, in accordance with situation as well as character.

Tagore has said repeatedly in his poems and essays “I am always with you and I belong to you. I want the whole world to be washed by love and joy”. This is the very essence of Rabindranatyam. The Dance programme is sponsored by Nandini Eswar in memory of her mother - in- law  K Saraswathamma. The concert is open to all, said the release.
